Bobbi Van Lent
LCDC
Hello! My name is Bobbi Van Lent. I am a Master’s level intern. I am currently working toward getting my LPC-A. I am a licensed chemical dependency counselor and have been helping people who struggle from addiction for several years. I know that addiction and mental health can go hand-in-hand. I believe in integrated approaches that address both mental health and substance abuse. I am trained on a variety of treatment models and will work with you to determine the approach that best fits your needs.
As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment where you can express and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in a collaborative approach to help you to develop your individual therapy goals. Together we can identify your challenges, strengths, and the goals you desire to achieve.
My theoretical orientation is Person-Centered. Person-centered therapy is an optimistic, humanistic approach that believes that individuals have the capacity for growth. Techniques that I use include active listening, support and genuineness, and empathetic understanding. I also align my work through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which addresses one’s self-defeating thoughts and irrational thinking patterns.
I believe that when you are ready you can make incredible changes. I know that making the first step to seek support can be scary, but it is a brave and empowering decision toward the life you want.
